In April this year, the Namibia Sport Commission appointed an interim committee to amend the constitution and stabilize the leadership squabbles within the Namibian National Paralympic Committee.

For over two years, the Namibian National Paralympic Committee has been embroiled in a management crisis, with different leadership factions at odds causing tension and strained relationships with its athletes. In April, an interim committee was appointed by the Namibia Sport Commission to stabilize the long-running feud.

Their mission unfolded under funding challenges, which were eventually alleviated by the Namibia Sport Commission. In the end, the interim committee tasked with amending the constitution delivered on their mandate.

"We have successfully managed to finalize the constitutional amendments as per our mandate. Despite the funding challenges we faced initially, the support from the Namibia Sport Commission allowed us to complete this vital task and ensure that the organization now has a solid legal framework to operate under" Daniel Trum said.

The struggles within the NNPC continued to spill over onto the performance of the para-athletes, who endured a year to forget. Paralympic sport in Namibia was a shadow of its former self in 2025.

"It has been a very difficult year for our athletes. The administrative instability directly impacted their performance and preparation, making 2025 a year of many missed opportunities. We have seen the sport lose the momentum it once had due to these internal conflicts" Daniel Trum said.

What remains certain is that the NNPC, which has operated on a draft constitution for the past ten years, is about to turn a new page. The adopted constitution will mark a new era and a new dawn awaits.

"Moving forward, the adoption of this constitution is a major milestone because we have been operating on a draft for a decade. This clears the way for the elective congress in January, where a new leadership will be chosen for a four-year term to restore the dignity and success of Paralympic sports in Namibia" Daniel Trum said.

A new leadership will take over for a four-year term after the elective congress anticipated to be held in January.
