Water supply is gradually being restored to Katutura and the Northern Industrial Area in the city following a successful repair of a bulk pipeline leakage.

The disruption of water supply followed a 600-millimetre pipeline leakage.

The Head of Corporate Communications at the City of Windhoek, Lydia Amutenya, confirmed that the water was restored at around midnight.

She, however, said that the water supply will be gradual, with some low-lying areas to receive water first.

Amutenya said despite the repairs, reservoir levels were significantly depleted during the repair process, requiring time to refill the system before normal distribution could resume.

She added that some areas are gradually receiving water, while full restoration across all affected locations is expected later this morning as reservoir levels stabilise.

The City of Windhoek has thanked the affected residents for their patience during the water disruption, which lasted the whole of Wednesday until midnight.
