Namibia and Cuba have agreed to explore a proposal to establish a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical plant in Namibia, leveraging Cuban biotechnology.

The project is envisaged to boost economic cooperation between the two countries.

It will enable Namibia to be self-reliant in the supply of pharmaceutical products and, potentially, to export to the SADC region and beyond.

The two sides further discussed the possibility of introducing the Cuban Family Doctor Concept in Namibia, alongside cultural and youth exchange programmes.

These discussions emanated from a courtesy call between Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare and the Ambassador of Cuba to Namibia, Sergio Vigoa de la Uz, recently in Windhoek.
