Children’s Advocate Ingrid Husselman has called for the protection and respect of children’s rights at all times.

Husselman emphasised that children have a range of rights that must be upheld, including the right to be heard, the right to education, the right to health, and the right to dignity.

She made the remarks during the 36th Constitution Day celebration held in Opuwo, Kunene Region, under the theme “My Rights, My Constitution”.

The event mainly focused on children, who formed the majority of those in attendance.

Husselman urged parents to ensure that children’s right to education is not violated, saying education enables them to achieve their dreams and aspirations.

She also encouraged the public to report cases of child abuse and the denial of schooling to social workers, the Office of the Ombudsman, or the nearest police station.

Husselman emphasised that children’s rights are human rights, enjoyed by every child from birth and cannot be taken away.
