Out of 47 submissions received, 21 producers have been selected to participate in the Mukorob Master Class pitching programme.
The initiative by the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) aims to empower local filmmakers to tell authentic Namibian stories.
NBC's Commissioning Editor for Content Acquisition, Glendyrr Bailey, said the national broadcaster is opening doors to fresh ideas and investing financially in creative visions that tell Namibian stories.
"The producers have been waiting – young, upcoming producers and even the ones with more experience. People were excited for this opportunity that's been given to them."
Bailey explained that phase two of the Mukorob MasterClass will take place in stages.
She emphasised that NBC has a responsibility to grow and mentor players in the industry.
"There's a saying in our industry: you're only as good as your last job. So if I think I'm the best producer, I'm only as good as my last job, but I have experience that I have a responsibility to give over to the younger generation, and that is one thing that NBC stands for: that we grow the industry, we mentor."
