The National Archives of Namibia (NAN), in collaboration with Basler Afrika Bibliographien, has launched two books: Writing Windhoek: Multiple Representations of the City and A Symbol of a People's Determination: The Windhoek Old Location, History, and Photographs.

The books aim to strengthen public understanding of Windhoek's history through research, memory, and visual storytelling.
The publications, which are contributions by Dr. Ellison Tjirera and Henning Melber, provide deeper insight into the city's urban history.

Writing Windhoek: Multiple Representations of the City contains five chapters exploring different perspectives on Windhoek as an evolving urban space.
Meanwhile, A Symbol of a People's Determination: The Windhoek Old Location, History, and Photographs spans 109 pages of historical narratives and photographic documentation capturing residents' experiences in the Old Location during the apartheid era.
The book presents historical accounts alongside rare photographs documenting everyday life, forced removals, and the resistance that followed.
The two books offer historical and academic contributions that preserve the country's urban heritage and encourage reflection on how the past shapes society today.
