Swapo Party MP Christine Haindaka says she will actively work to advance policies that strengthen social protection systems.

Haindaka made the pledge when she delivered her maiden speech following her swearing in recently.

Haindaka, who replaced Dr Elifas Dingara, says she takes on the role in the National Assembly with a clear understanding that representation must be translated into meaningful action.

"Particular attention must be given to antenatal care and mental health services and the continued fight against HIV. My duty in this chamber will be dedicated to making sure that every public and private institution must have a psychologist or social worker due to the many cases every day that we are hearing. Honourable speaker, as I conclude, I therefore pledge my unwavering commitment to the people of Namibia."
