Two equal cheques of N$25,000 were donated to two schools in the Zambezi Region.
Bukalo Primary School and Silumbi Combined School both benefited from the gesture by former learner George Mayumbelo.
Silumbi Combined School will use the donation to buy 25 hostel beds.
Cletius Simwanza is the principal of Silumbi Combined School.
"By identifying and supporting our challenged hostel, which we have earmarked to divert the donation to, with a donation of N$25,000, you help us to provide a safer, conducive living environment for our learners. At the same time, this will improve the quality of education because decent accommodation plays a role and will improve the quality of the livelihood of our children at Silumbi."
Bukalo Primary School officials did not specify what the funds would be used for; they assured transparency with the donor and community.
The school, which caters to over 850 learners, has recently had to rely on makeshift classrooms for learners in grades 5, 6 and 7. It continues to face numerous challenges, such as an insufficient number of toilet facilities and the absence of both a library and a computer lab.
George Mayumbelo, a former learner at both schools, who has previously made donations to other schools in the region, expressed hope for more collaboration.
He emphasised the importance of discipline and having a purpose in life for the students to achieve success.
"In Bukalo, many great people have been produced; please lean on them to support you to motivate the learners but also to support you in accessing sponsorships from entities that can support you."
Bukalo Circuit Inspector Namasiku Limbo highlighted that the donation will benefit the education sector.
"This contribution will deeply strengthen our efforts. It will help provide essential learning materials, enhance tools and create an environment where both educators and students can thrive. It is an investment that will echo far beyond today into classrooms, into communities, and into the future."
