The Ju|'hoansi Traditional Authority, in collaboration with the Tsumkwe Constituency Office, is set to host the first-ever San Cultural Festival in Tsumkwe.

The event will bring together different San traditional authorities from across the country.

The festival aims to strengthen ties between San chiefs and cultural groups, promote unity, and preserve the cultural heritage of the San people.

It will also be an important opportunity to pass on indigenous knowledge, traditions, and practices to the younger generation, ensuring they are safe for years to come.

Chief of the Ju/hoansi Traditional Authority is Tsamkxao #Oma.

"It is my pleasure and honour to inform the nation, our caring government, and the president that we will host a cultural festival in Tsumkwe, the heartland of the San people."

Tsumkwe Constituency Councillor Petrus Mutji highlighted how the event will benefit the community.

"It's to get the people up and stand for themselves. This is job creation and economic development that we will be bringing to the people and also good governance."

He also added that respect comes from learning and practising culture.

"We will honour our chief through this event and want our kids not to forget about our culture. The event is not only a celebration of culture but also a step toward empowering communities," adds Senior Councillor for the Ju|hoansi Traditional Authority, Fransina Ghauz.

Due to limited infrastructure in Tsumkwe, the organisers are calling on government, partners, stakeholders, and potential investors to come on board and support the initiative.

They emphasise that any form of assistance, whether financial, logistical or material, will contribute to the successful hosting of the festival.

The festival is set to take place from 21 to 26 September 2026.
