The Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus, has urged content creators to continue branding Namibia, promising to provide space for such creators to thrive in such a task.
She made these remarks during the MTC's second Branding and Marketing Indaba.
The event highlights efforts to strengthen connections and grow Namibia's marketing sector.
This year's branding and marketing Indaba builds on the success of the 2025 edition.
It aims to become a leading national platform, with a focus on authentic marketing and regional collaboration.
Local and international industry leaders are taking part in this year's event.
MTC says the initiative is not profit-driven but an investment in the industry.
The event, which has a budget of N$4.6 million, also promotes Namibian brand storytelling.
The goal is to position Namibia in Africa's marketing space.
The Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus, stressed the role of innovation and storytelling.
"We'd like you to find your place in how you market and brand Namibia better, and I'll show you, as a government, we have created the space for you in making sure that you continue to help us brand and market Namibia, beating with one heart and with one mind. With this, you might get your thoughts, and because I could talk further about the future, it is not usually just supposed with branding and marketing, the impact of AI on marketing, or even perhaps about the rise of content creation and its addition to the craft of branding and marketing."
The event is themed "Marketing from the Heart".
The MTC Chief Brand, Marketing, Communications, and Sustainability Officer outlined the theme, saying brands must move beyond transactions to build meaningful connections with African audiences.
"If we are to build an admirable African brand, then we must start by changing how we see ourselves as Africans before we demand that the rest of the world change its perceptions of us. This, of course, requires our collective participation, and it is why I am very encouraged by the recent launch of the Pan-African Creative Council for Opportunity in Africa that is set to advance a narrative that contributes to building the Africa that we want to see."
Meanwhile, Dr. Thebe Ikalafeng of the Hall of Fame Global African Authority and the founder of Brand Africa highlighted the need to position Africa as a competitive global brand.
"We're now back to being seen as an apprentice, reshaping cultures, and we're going to deal with our influence. As we move in from just being observed to participants, from being an object now and being the author of our story, from being exported out of the continent, we are now seeing the story as we know the story."
MTC says the event has been expanded this year, offering more networking and knowledge-sharing opportunities.
It's being attended by participants from across Africa and Germany.
Exhibition stalls will also be on display throughout the three-day event, and MTC has this year introduced the Branding and Marketing Indaba Awards.
The awards recognise excellence in 19 categories, and more than 100 entries have been received.
