President Nandi-Ndaitwah has called on Namibians to join hands and fight corruption.
In terms of corruption perception, the Transparency International Index ranks Namibia with a score of 58 out of 100 and at position 65 out of 182 countries in 2025, a decline of three points from the previous year.
"On this note, I would like to re-emphasise that the fight against corruption is not only that of the government but also a collective responsibility for all Namibians. Let us join hands in the fight against this social ill. As I always say, corruption must be treated as treason because it undermines our development and threatens our peace and stability."
Nandi-Ndaitwah emphasised the importance of good governance. According to the Mo Ibrahim Index of African Governance, Namibia scored 63.9 out of 100, ranking sixth among 54 African countries.
Additionally, the President praised Namibia's ranking when it comes to media freedom. "In media freedom, Namibia improved from 34th place out of 180 countries in the 2024 Reporters Without Borders World Press Freedom Index to 28th place in the 2025 index, with the score increasing from 74.16 to 75.35, ranking Namibia second in Africa."
