A boost for youth development is underway in Windhoek, as St Barnabas Primary School begins construction of a sports field with support from international partners.

What was once an open space at St Barnabas Primary School is being transformed into a sports field, a development that will impact the daily activities of hundreds of learners.

The project is supported by friends of Westphalia in Germany, whose commitment is helping make this plan a reality.

On Thursday, the delegation returned to the school for a second site visit to review progress.

During the visit, they pledged an additional 10,000 euros, reaffirming their support for Namibian youth.

Khomas Region circuit inspector Catherine Vries said “Sport play a critical role in education. This facility will provide learners with a safe and structured environment to stay active and develop discipline”.

For the school and surrounding community, this project is more than infrastructure; it represents opportunity and growth.

“We are encouraged by the progress. This project is not just about a sports field; it is about creating opportunities and supporting the community”said Namibia 2022 E.V. Foundation chairperson Rene Toennes.

Once completed, the facility is expected to enhance sporting activities at the school, nurture young talent, and strengthen community engagement.
