The State Secretary for the Senate Department for Economic Affairs, Energy and Public Enterprise in Berlin, Michael Biel, says gatherings like the Solar Expert Conference are crucial.
Biel is attending the conference in Windhoek, where discussions focus on barriers, opportunities, and collaborative measures to enhance solar photovoltaic (PV) penetration in the market.
"At the same time, it is embedded in the broader dialogue between our cities on how to drive urban transformation," he said. "Around the world, energy systems are undergoing profound transformation. Solar energy has become one of the fastest-growing sources of electricity globally. Costs have fallen by more than 80% over the past decade, making solar power not only essential for climate protection but also one of the most economically competitive energy sources available."
