More than 800 students graduated from the University of Namibia’s Faculty of Commerce, Management and Law yesterday, bringing the total number of graduates for April to 4,340.

UNAM Vice Chancellor Kenneth Matengu expressed pride in the milestone:

“By the end of this graduation, we would have reached 80,000 graduates since the reception of the University of Namibia. I would like to say that in addition to the number that we will have today, the university will graduate more than 4,340 graduates this month, which means we have an increase of 12% from last year’s figure of 3,858,” he said.

Professor Matengu highlighted significant changes in enrollment, with student intake rising substantially:

“Ordinarily we were registering 6,000 to 7,000 students per year. And with that decision this year, we recruited more than 11,000 students. We now see that the percentage of boys’ participation in higher education and graduation has increased from 31% to 35.4%,” he said.

This graduation underscores UNAM’s growth and ongoing commitment to expanding access to higher education and producing more graduates.
