Minister of Urban and Rural Development James Sankwasa encouraged new graduates to lead innovation and tackle Namibia’s social and economic challenges during the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) graduation ceremony.
“We face high unemployment. When opportunities exist in government and private sectors, universities must investigate causes. Knowledge must advance beyond technology alone because the majority remain unemployed without practical skills. Both private and public sectors must seek practical solutions,” Sankwasa said.
NUST Chancellor Peter Katjavivi urged graduates, “We are four years from 2030, reassessing our progress." Use your knowledge to improve yourselves and your families and transform Namibia’s economy and the continent at large.”
The ceremony underscored higher education’s vital role in national development.
