Swapo Party Secretary General Sophia Shaningwa has called on party regional and local authority councillors in the ||Kharas Region to embrace service delivery with urgency.
She made the call when she officiated at a workshop attended by the party's political office bearers outside Keetmanshoop.
Shaningwa highlighted the importance of community engagement with sincerity and inclusive leadership with integrity.
The one-day workshop aims to sharpen the party political office bearers' skills in serving their respective communities.
"What belongs to the people must belong to the people. Can I repeat myself? If the land is allocated for the poor, it is not for the honourable Secretary General; it must go to the poor. If the money is allocated for the poor, it must go to those whom we say the service must go to, not to us who are having a little bit. When we are saying the Swapo Party is entrusted by the grassroots people, it is because people have hope in it as regional councillors and local authority councillors, and we must not disappoint our people."
Shaningwa reminded them to be guided by the party manifesto and NDP6 in driving socio-economic development.
The party's ||Kharas coordinator, Mathew Mumbala, also addressed the workshop.
"Service delivery will be the cornerstone of our discussions. Governance, accountability, and responsiveness to the needs of our people must remain our guiding principles."
Mumbala said the participants' knowledge will be tested during the workshop.
