The Ngoma border post in Katima Mulilo has faced criticism again after travellers reported waiting for hours early yesterday morning without assistance.
When NBC News visited the border, the situation had returned to normal, with two immigration officers attending to both departure and arrival counters.
Control Immigration Officer Irvine Mushanana, in response, acknowledged that the officer on duty yesterday had a medical emergency around 10:00 after opening the border. By 11:00, immigration officers had been dispatched to resume services at the post.
Mushanana added that insufficient staff remain the main issue at the post.
