The minister of Foreign Affairs from the Kyrgyz Republic and the Secretary of Foreign Affairs from the Philippines paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry of International Relations and Trade (MIRT).

The visit was aimed at strengthening bilateral ties as well as cooperation in various sectors to boost socio-economic development, which will be mutually beneficial.

"So your visit here this morning represents a golden opportunity for us to deepen our bilateral relations, to strengthen our cooperation, and to explore other areas where our countries can come together and further enhance. We attach great importance to the partnership between our countries because it's a partnership that is grounded in mutual understanding, mutual respect, equality, and shared developed aspirations for sustainable development," stressed MIRT minister Selma Ashipala-Musavyi."

The minister of Foreign Affairs from the Kyrgyz Republic, Zheenbek Kulubaev, says that bilateral relations with Namibia are now on an upward trajectory, rooted in the principles of sovereign equality, mutual respect and mutual benefit.

"My visit symbolises the fact that friendship knows no borders. The Kyrgyz site will make every effort to identify additional opportunities and areas of mutual interest for mutually beneficial cooperation in the development of the agro-industrial sector, the textile industry and livestock breeding. There is also considerable potential for the export of organic agricultural products and foodstuffs, including beans, mountain honey and dried fruits."

Special Representative of the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines, Marie Chang, reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in areas of mutual interest that align with Namibia's development priorities, including infrastructure development, renewable energy, agriculture and youth empowerment.

"I thank you for your briefing on the priorities of your government under the new administration. It's very complementary as well to our priorities. Like Namibia, we have a very young population. So employment, empowerment, innovation, all these things are very important for the Philippine government."
