Community members, fitness enthusiasts and athletes came together in large numbers for the Otjiwarongo Awareness and Fundraising Fun Run, an initiative aimed at promoting healthy living while raising funds for underprivileged learners.

The funds raised during the event will be used to purchase winter school uniforms for needy learners at Otjiwarongo Project School.

Joseph Huuve claimed first place in the men’s 10-kilometre race after an outstanding performance that saw him cross the finish line ahead of the field.

Henry Kondo emerged victorious in the women’s 10km category, demonstrating determination and endurance throughout the race.

The event attracted participants from across the community, with runners of different ages and fitness levels taking part in support of the fundraising initiative. Spectators also turned out to encourage participants and contribute to the positive atmosphere.

Organiser Rauna Shilunga said the event was organised not only to encourage physical fitness but also to make a meaningful difference in the lives of learners in need.

“The goal is to assist underprivileged learners at Otjiwarongo Project School by providing winter uniforms to help keep them warm during the cold season,” she said.

Shilunga expressed gratitude to all runners, volunteers, sponsors and community members who supported the event and contributed towards its success.

The fun run concluded with prize-giving and celebrations, highlighting the power of sport to unite communities while supporting a worthy cause.
