President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has called on leaders across all sectors to place the interests of the people and the nation above all.
She made the call at the launch of a book titled "Building Namibia's Future", authored by Ndahafa Mutongolume in Windhoek.
President Nandi-Ndaitwah stressed that Namibia's future depends on creating opportunities for young people through education, skills development, entrepreneurship and innovation.
She further emphasised the need for leaders to continue building an economy that creates jobs, promotes investment and supports local enterprises.
"We are mindful of the ongoing challenges we face, such as unemployment, poverty, inequality, and the need for accelerated growth, among others. These issues compel us to act with urgency and determination. I call upon every Namibian to take an active role in community development, national dialogue, and policy implementation to address our socio-economic challenges. Let us harness our collective strengths and diverse perspectives for sustainable and inclusive growth."
Vice President Lucia Witbooi emphasised the type of crop of leaders the country needs.
“We need leaders who understand the complexity of the time we are living in, leaders who are both strategic yet compassionate and decisive yet humble visionary leaders grounded in the everyday struggles of the people.”
Mutongolume honours Dr Nandi-Ndaitwah's leadership journey.
“This book was formed from a simple and important question: What kind of Namibia will we leave for our future generation? That's the question that I had in my mind. As I reflected on our nation's journey, I became convinced that Namibia's good days are still ahead of us. We are willing to work together with the same vision and determination. 'Building Namibia's Future' is more than a book. It is a call for action. It highlights the vision of leadership of Dr Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah while encouraging every Namibian to see themselves as active participants in our nation building.”
The CEO of Capricorn Group, David Nuyoma, spoke about his experience about the book.
“It reminds us that development is not something that happens in isolation. There is something about this book when it expresses development that is so profound. It is as if Ndahafa is expressing her dreams and hopes through the exemplary leadership of her excellency.”
Dr Nandi-Ndaitwah also expressed her appreciation.
“I am deeply appreciative of the dedication, research, and thoughtful reflection that went into the writing of this book. I am humbled that it is dedicated to me, a gesture that underscores the importance of documenting leadership journeys and national development pathways for the benefit of future generations.”
