The Namibia Revenue Agency Commissioner, Sam Shivute, said its partnership with the National Youth Service will help develop a disciplined and skilled workforce capable of supporting Namibia's economic ambitions.
Shivute made the remarks during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in Windhoek.
He explained that the agreement demonstrates a commitment to working together in the best interests of the country and its youth.
Shivute emphasised that this partnership will help prepare young people for opportunities in sectors such as oil and gas, trade facilitation and border security.
“We need to adopt what we call the whole government approach, where different institutions in Namibia hold hands together and move in the same direction in ensuring that national development goals are achieved.”
Shivute also stressed that NYS training provides young people with civic, physical and mental development while promoting patriotism, discipline and unity.
“We have also noted your national mandate of ensuring that young people are prepared, not only through civic education but also through comprehensive training, including physical training, mental development, and training in patriotism, discipline, and unity.”

NYS Commissioner Felix Musukubili described the agreement as a significant milestone that will enhance youth development and capacity-building initiatives.
Dr Musukubili noted that the partnership goes beyond ordinary institutional cooperation and aligns with the NYS's mandate of developing disciplined, loyalty and productive citizens.
“Our mandate is to train the youth, but over time we have evolved to offer short programmes in national service. These programmes benefit both government and private-sector employees. You will see that we are going to roll out and launch this programme, which we are about to sign, so that they can benefit from the ideological grounding that we provide to our recruits.”
Dr Musukubili further stressed that participants who undergo NYS training gain a clearer understanding of how their daily responsibilities contribute to the country's development.
