Believers from various church denominations and faith communities gathered across Namibia for a National Prayer Day, breaking religious boundaries to intercede for national healing and social transformation.

The gathering was held in response to a rise in tragic incidents in the country, including motor vehicle accidents, gender-based violence, suicides, and violent crime. These incidents have left many families devastated, with calls growing for both spiritual reflection and societal change.

Reverend James Fredericks, Chairperson of the National Prayer Day Committee and General Secretary of CCN, said prayer remains essential in seeking wisdom, guidance, and healing for the nation, emphasising unity in addressing national challenges.

Islamic leader Imam Haroon Serunkuuma echoed similar sentiments, describing prayer as a continuous act that requires no cost and can be done anywhere, urging citizens to seek God beyond moments of crisis.

Representing the Baha’i Faith, Sophie Tekie highlighted unity in diversity, calling for collective prayer for Namibia’s leaders, people, and future.

The event also featured performances by various choirs, including the NCS Choir and the Police Brass Band, contributing to a spirit of unity, hope, and revival.

Participants were reminded that love and mutual respect remain key to preventing violence and building a safer, more compassionate society.
