The Speaker of the National Assembly, Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, has extended condolences to the government and people of Venezuela.

The message was conveyed to the Embassy of Venezuela in Windhoek on Friday on behalf of the National Assembly as an expression of solidarity with the South American country.

Kuugongelwa-Amadhila said her thoughts and prayers were with the families who lost loved ones and those affected by the earthquake, while wishing those injured a full recovery.

She expressed hope that the country would recover from the impact of the disaster.

The Swapo Party Youth League also wished the Venezuelan people strength, resilience, and unity as they worked towards rebuilding their nation.
