The Namibia Film Commission is encouraging eligible African co-productions to apply for the 2026 funding call-outs.
The co-production must promote collaboration and African storytelling.
Eligible projects include feature films, short films, and documentaries that meet the funding criteria.
Projects the commission says must be production-ready and include a complete screenplay.
To apply, applicants are required to submit a full screenplay; a one-page motivational letter, concept outline, and treatment; a certified copy of identification; summarised CVs of key creatives; an itemised budget; copyright information; and a show reel or portfolio if available.
The NBC News team spoke to some of the former beneficiaries of NFC's funding, and this is what they had to say.
"They believed in our story and gave us that opportunity. They provided us with the funding we needed to produce the feature film. When you look at that kind of support, it's not just about being a new filmmaker. It's about helping people by giving them the resources to bring their ideas to life while focusing on the concept itself. Is it relatable? Does the story speak to people? I think that's what the NFC stands for—supporting people beyond simply seeing them as new filmmakers or industry professionals. It's about looking at what the story is saying and how it resonates with the Namibian people," said Michael Pulse.
"The Namibia Film Commission has really supported the vision I had after graduation. When you graduate, you have all these amazing ideas about the films you're going to make and the kinds of stories you're going to tell. The Namibia Film Commission really stepped in by supporting my first short film after graduation, titled Sneh. The film performed very well and went on to be screened at the Eurofestival. The funding provided is truly a stepping stone to build a career in filmmaking. It gives emerging filmmakers the opportunity to turn their ideas into reality and develop their craft," added Leon Mubiana.
The projects are expected to be completed by the end of February 2027.
The deadline for the application is 03 August 2026.
