NFC empowers film producers

The Namibia Film Commission is conducting its first ever screen and film production workshop in the Kavango East Region. 

The two-week workshop is aimed at equipping regional script writers, directors, camera operators, and production editors with the necessary knowledge and skills to independently produce films. 

The workshop is led by film producer and director Caleb Cindano.

The Namibia Film Commission (NFC), through its strategic plan, aims to create value by providing a "one-stop shop" to both local and international filmmakers.

The 'one-stop shop' for film will permit film funding, location facilitation, training, and market research data, among others.

The NFC's core mission is to revitalize and bring about innovative ideas aimed at transforming the local film industry through a targeted approach to attract foreign film producers to Namibia.

The Namibia Film Week will kick off on Wednesday in Windhoek.

The four-day Namibian film screening events will showcase shorts, features, and documentaries all produced by Namibians. 

The initiative, a brainchild of the Namibia Film Commission, is part of their mandate to advance the local film industry.

Film Week further aims to create a platform to showcase new local films, create an appetite for local film productions and influence how people perceive the world through film.

Namibia Film Commission engages stakeholder in Erongo Region

The Namibia Film Commission (NFC) is on a regional resource mobilisation tour and stakeholder engagement in the Erongo Region. 

The weeklong campaign is part of the Commission's turnaround strategy that aims to transform the film industry into a world-class industry of excellence and attract major foreign film productions.

Namibians encouraged to take part in the EU film festival

Namibians are encouraged to take part in the EU film festival starting next Wednesday.

Eighteen European and Namibian films are expected to be screened in Windhoek at the Opera House.

Through the festival, European Union Ambassador to Namibia Sinikka Antila said, they aim to raise interest, awareness and educate the local audience about European and Namibian films.

The platform will also strengthen cooperation and communication between the EU and the Namibian public.

The Namibia Film Week returns after the devastating impact of COVID-19 on the creative space.

The film week, organised by the Namibia Film Commission, encourages the Namibian audience to celebrate and view with filmmakers and industry professionals Namibia's cinema.


It also promotes Namibian films while telling stories that they can relate to. It will be held from 26- 29 October at different venues, still to be announced in the |Khomas Region.
