Burkina Faso has introduced military cadet uniforms made from traditional handwoven fabric, blending national service with the country's rich cultural heritage.

The uniforms, worn during the graduation ceremony for officer cadets, reflect a broader effort to promote local craftsmanship while preserving and celebrating Burkina Faso's cultural identity.

Burkina Faso introduced the new officer uniforms during the graduation of the 25th class of Active-Duty Officer Cadets at the Georges-Namoano Military Academy (AMGN).

On Saturday, Captain Ibrahim Traoré attended the ceremony as 218 graduating officers marched in the new attire, inspired by the traditional Cencengu of the Gulmu region in eastern Burkina Faso.

Authorities said the design honours the expertise of local weavers and celebrates the country's cultural heritage.
