The Capricorn Foundation has donated 75 mattresses worth N$200,000 to the Mental Health Unit at Windhoek Central Hospital in an effort to improve patient care and recovery.

Capricorn Group Chief Brand and Corporate Affairs Officer Marlize Horn says the foundation remains committed to partnering with government to strengthen healthcare services and improve the well-being of vulnerable communities across Namibia.

Horn says the donation follows several visits by the Capricorn Foundation to the facility to engage with hospital management and identify the unit's most pressing needs.

She highlights that during the engagements the need for proper mattresses prompted the donation to improve patients' comfort and support their recovery.

"At the Capricorn foundation it's not just about writing out a cheque, giving money, it is really about understanding  what the needs are to come and see for ourselves where we can make the biggest impact and positive change."

Accepting the donation, Senior Medical Superintendent at Windhoek Central Hospital, Dr Sarah Shalongo, says this is not just a donation but an investment in the health and dignity of the people.

Shalongo also says government alone cannot do everything on its own, and this is what the Capricorn Foundation is doing.

"We really look forward to working with you in the future and just to show others the great, great work that you are doing for this community. Because most of the people forget this part of the hospital and concentrate more on the other side, we are really, really grateful for what you are doing, grateful for the donation that you are giving us."
