Groot Aub residents will continue to benefit from free municipal services while infrastructures are being developed and upgraded to support the formal provision of basic services. 

The decision follows a meeting between the City of Windhoek, the Minister of Urban and Rural Development, James Sankwasa, and the |Khomas Regional Council.

Discussions centred around improving service delivery and creating sustainable development opportunities for the community.

The city reaffirmed its commitment to continue providing water, sewerage and solid waste services at no cost to residents while investing in various infrastructure development projects.

"The city, therefore, together with the government, remains committed to the sustainable development of Hrotob and will continue engaging the community throughout this process. Residents, therefore, will be informed well in advance of any future changes, and the required infrastructure will have been completed and the area will be ready for the next phase of service delivery. Therefore, there is no extra cost or added cost at this point in time; it remains for free, and the residents shouldn't worry about any payments, stated the City of Windhoek's spokesperson, Harold Akwenye.

The meeting also focused on land ownership, municipal services, housing, infrastructure development and future spatial planning.
