The French Embassy has reaffirmed support for Namibia's cultural and creative industries.
The embassy organised a three-day seminar bringing together a broader dance fraternity to share expertise and strengthen the value chain of the industry.

The movement dance seminar provides a platform for creators, performers and industry experts to share experiences, knowledge and perspectives as well as develop a sustainable development plan for dance-related professions.

It also aims to strengthen local capacity and support the growth of Namibia's creative industries, which have been identified as a government priority in the NDP6.

France's Ambassador to Namibia, Cecile Vigneau stated, "If you want to kind of build a value chain, as we said now, it's all questions of building value chain in the sectors, you need all these different sectors, competencies, point of view, to be brought together. So I hope very much that this seminar will foster ideas on the way forward, because that is the question: what to do next? Encourage collective initiatives to devise a plan, maybe for sustainable development of the sector in Namibia."

Director of Ombetja Yehinga Organisation, Philippe Talavera, added, "The question is how to sustain it. And that is a question we will try to answer in the next three days. How can we sustain such initiative? What is the future of dance in Namibia? Are we reverting next year to everybody doing what they want to do, whenever they want to do it? Or maybe I should say whenever they can do it. Or are we trying to structure the sector?"
