The University of Namibia Football Club is preparing to compete in the CAF Confederation Cup Preliminary Round for the first time in the club's history.

The University of Namibia is set to take part in continental football for the first time in the club's history.

UNAM has been drawn to face Angolan side Kabuscorp in a two-legged tie. Kabuscorp competes in Angola's top-flight league, Girabola.

The Clever Boys' head coach, Robert Nauseb, said his technical team has been studying Kabuscorp ahead of the encounter.

UNAM will step up its preparations by travelling to Botswana for preparatory matches against Jwaneng Galaxy.

The club has also lost four key players during the current transfer window, but Nauseb said plans are in place to fill the vacant positions before the CAF tie.

UNAM lost its captain, Paulus Amutenya, to Gaborone United, while Natangwe Petrus joined Sua Flamingoes, both in Botswana.

Right-back Paulus Gideon and centre-back Josef Bonifasius have also left the club after signing for African Stars.

UNAM will play the first leg at home on 5 September, with the return leg scheduled for 12 September 2026 away.

However, the club faces a venue challenge for the home leg.

With no stadiums currently fit to host senior-level CAF competitions in Namibia, UNAM will have to identify an alternative venue, potentially in Botswana, South Africa or Angola.

The club's preparations will therefore focus on strengthening the squad, gaining match experience and securing a suitable venue before the first leg.
