The Namibia Football Association has shared its 2026/27 activity calendar with its members, setting out key activities for the upcoming football season as questions remain over the status of the Namibia Premier Football League.

With the league scheduled to kick off on 18 September, questions remain over whether the Namibia Premier Football League will operate as an independent entity or continue under the Namibia Football Association.

On 13 November 2025, the NFA announced a resolution allowing the Namibia Premier Football League to operate as an independent entity from the 2026/27 season.

The announcement was welcomed by football stakeholders and supporters, who said the move could help the country's top-flight league attract sponsorship, increase club grants, improve prize money and introduce additional competitions.

It was also seen as a step towards establishing an independent leadership and administrative structure for the league.

However, with the new season approaching, the league's independent status remains unclear.

The Acting NFA Secretary General Mabos Vries said the Association is making its own plans to secure sponsorship for the upcoming football season, while calling on the corporate sector to support football and youth sport in the country.

The NFA's 2026/27 activity calendar officially started on 3 August 2026 and is scheduled to conclude on 31 July 2027.
