The Swapo Party Secretary-General Sophia Shaningwa has inaugurated the party's new district office in Ogongo, Omusati Region, calling on party structures across the country to establish offices in all 121 districts.

Shaningwa says the new office will strengthen the party's presence at the grassroots level and provide a space for political education, mobilisation and community service.

" An organised party with dignified infrastructure is a very important body because here at the district office our members will be mobilised, they will be educated, and they will get the advance as to why the Swapo Party is standing up today, and therefore, this is just not an infrastructure; this is a history having been set."

She urged other district coordinators and regional structures to follow Ogongo's example, while thanking local business people for their financial contributions towards the project.

Shaningwa also appealed to the business community to continue supporting the party's pursuit of economic emancipation, saying political freedom without economic freedom is incomplete.

"I further appeal to the business community both in Ogongo and beyond to continue supporting the party in their respective areas so that at least around the 121 constituencies will be having similar offices to serve our people."

Shaningwa urged the party members and supporters to jealously guard, protect and preserve the office building, noting that it is a place of strategic thinking which will serve the community of Ogongo.
