The Governor of Hardap Region, Riaan McNab, has reached out to small businesses and community projects through donations.

McNab handed over fish and fruit trees to the Non-Governmental Organisation Anes Caring Welfare Organisation, the Cancer Association and Step-Up Ark as well as a wheelchair to Anna Campbell.

He explained that NGOs play a pivotal role in community development, support communities, protect human dignity, and create opportunities for a brighter future.

"It is our hope that these resources will strengthen your programmes, they will contribute to food security, and they will ultimately improve the well-being of the people under your care. We are not there every day, but you are there."

A representative from the Cancer Association of Namibia, Amor McNab, pledged to continue serving the community.

"We appreciate what you do for your people. It's a saying: 'Do not give away the fish. Teach them how to fish, and you will feed them for a lifetime.'" One of the beneficiaries, Anna Campbell, received a wheelchair, which will improve her daily life. Campbell's nephew Rusel Pieters has been taking care of her, and he shared mixed emotions and appreciation for the assistance.

"All I want to say is thank you very much to the governor for what you have done for my grandmother. I am very grateful."

BML Trading, situated about 20 kilometres outside Rehoboth, also received a donation.

"We focus specifically on agriculture and the chicken coop building materials. The layer chickens and chicken feet being handed over to BNL trading are made possible through the generous donation of N$1.7 million funded by NASRIA to the offices, 14 offices of the governors," added McNab.

The beneficiary Bobby Mouton expressed gratitude for the donation.

"We will make the most of it, and we will, as we promised in our proposal, develop the youth. We currently have two youths of Namibia that are working for us."

The Office of the Governor is committed to supporting practical initiatives that empower our people, promote self-reliance and create opportunities for sustainable development.
