The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Accounts and Economy paid a courtesy call on ||Kharas Governor Dawid Gertze as part of its follow-up oversight visit to agro processing projects in the region.

The committee visited the Naute Irrigation Farm and the !Homs-Ai Industrial Park at Keetmanshoop, both managed by the Namibia Industrial Development Agency.

Committee Chairperson Eddie |Nanub explained that the visit is aimed at assessing the progress in implementing the committee's recommendation culminating from its previous oversight visit.

"These projects are crucial for unlocking local value chains, creating sustainable jobs, and ensuring food security. We are not here to merely inspect but to collaborate to ensure that every dollar invested delivers tangible value for the people of ||Kharas."

Governor Gertze welcomed the committee's follow-up oversight visit.

"I must say that from the cries that we received, mainly from the side of Naute. There is a notion of a tribal, regional, and geographic dispossession, which does not augur with this region. Because in this region we want to see that people are united along all lines, all lines, whether spiritual, ethnic, or traditional."

Gertze further advised the committee to also engage the workers of Naute Farm, adding that there is a perception that the committees only engage people in leadership positions, disregarding those who are doing the actual work.
