Four Namibian gymnasts travelled to Belgium on Tuesday to compete in an international Rhythmic Gymnastics competition.
Ahead of their journey to Belgium, NBC sport caught up with the talented athletes at the Elite Rhythmic Gymnastics Club in Windhoek.
Junior gymnasts Peya Kashaka and Kenandjo Mupia shared their excitement to learn new skills and compete against other internationals.
“It's very excited to go there to learn something new, to compete against other girls to see what they can do so that maybe I can also learn it. And I think it's happy, I'm going to enjoy it because I'm representing Namibia” Kashaka said.
Mupia said “This opportunity is really important to me, because not only am I going for the competition, but I'll also be coming back with a lot of new experience. I'm really looking forward to this opportunity and I see it as a really good outcome in the end”.
Senior gymnast Emilia Ekandjo is also excited to compete in her first international competition, though she recently suffered a minor injury.
“This opportunity is quiet important, because this is my first international competition as a senior gymnasts and I feel like I'll gain more experience in the sport and as well understand more about it”Ekandjo said.
