President Geingob will travel to Eswatini tomorrow for a one-day working visit as chairperson of the SADC Organ.

Dr. Geringob is expected to hold consultations with King Mswati III about the political situation in the country.

The visit is part of the SADC Summit resolution held in the DRC in August, for the organ to work towards peace and stability in the region.

The decision to strengthen continued dialogue with the Kingdom of Eswatini was again emphasized at the Maseru meeting convened by President Geingob on the sidelines of the swearing-in of the Lesotho Prime Minister.

In a statement, the Presidency says the Maseru meeting was aimed at reviewing progress in the implementation of SADC decisions in Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique, and the DRC.

The Maseru meeting directed that the Chairperson of the Troika undertake a working visit to hold consultations with King Mswati III to discuss the implementation of SADC decisions regarding the country.

Since assuming the chair of the Organ for Politics, Defense, and Security, the Namibian Head of State has been steering the affairs of the organ, starting with meetings in New York with the Panel of Elders, chaired by former president of Tanzania, Jakaya Kikwete, on the margins of the UN General Assembly in September.

He also spearheaded the supervision of the elections in Lesotho on October 7.

He was also involved in telephonic consultations with the presidents of the DRC, Felix Tshsekedi, and Rwanda, Paul Kagame, the incoming chair of the organ, President Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia, and the outgoing chair, SA President Cyril Ramaphosa, about the renewed fighting in eastern DRC.
