President Hage Geingob has called on Namibians to ensure that the well-being of children is protected and their interests are included in any development agenda.

The call forms part of the President's message to commemorate World Children's Day, under the theme "Inclusion, for Every Child." 

The President says the commemoration is a key reminder that children have equal status as citizens and should always be at the center of the country's socioeconomic development program.

Dr Geingob emphasized that their views should be heard on important issues affecting them. 

He appealed to the leaders, parents, and givers to bring awareness to children about violence including abuse, rape, exploitation and to provide an environment in which they are cared for and loved.

The President listed the government's investments in the well-being of the Namibian child such as the provision of free primary and secondary education, grants for orphans and vulnerable children, school feeding schemes as well as the outlawing of corporal punishment in schools.

World Children's Day is commemorated every year on 20th November, to promote international cooperation and awareness among children across the world.
