The Mayor of Windhoek is expected to host a Christmas lunch for hundreds of elders as well as hand out gifts to the less privileged, starting this coming Friday at the Zoo Park.
The Head of Corporate Communications, Lydia Amutenya, announced the development in an interview with Good Morning Namibia.
The Christmas market is a platform created by the council as a platform for businesses to showcase their products and find innovative ways to generate income.
But how will the council ensure that there are sufficient feet on the ground to support the initiative?
"In fact, we are not worried about the feet. We hosted a very successful Windhoek market in September early this year, which is a first of its kind actually, and we had quite a lot of feet on the ground on those two specific days, and the demand was so high that the community and those that participated in the event requested that we get more of these opportunities."
The portion of Independence Avenue facing the Zoo Park will be closed off during the event.
