City of Windhoek's mayor, Queen Kamati, urged residents to refrain from stealing trees that are being planted in various parts of the city.

Kamati made this call as the City of Windhoek joined the world in commemorating Arbor Day, with 128  trees being planted to foster a green city.

"You are the first responder, but who responds to you?" These were the words of the Mayor of Windhoek, Queen Kamati, to the City Police and NamPol before the night patrol. 

Kamati commended the police for their unwavering commitment to maintaining law, order, and safety in the city.

Windhoek Mayor Queen Kamati, alongside City of Windhoek CEO Moses Matyayi, visited the City Police Headquarters to gain more insight into the daily operations of the force. 

More than 1,500 senior citizens were treated to a Christmas lunch and received shopping vouchers to get them through the festive season by Walvis Bay Mayor Trevino Forbes.

Forbes also paid a visit to old-age homes in surrounding areas that were out of reach.
