The University of Namibia and Germany's Anhalt University of Applied Sciences have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop an academic program in renewable energy sources, including green hydrogen.

The agreement was signed at State House, in Windhoek.

Academic programs to be developed include those on solar energy and its applications, as well as green hydrogen technology, transport logistics, and sustainable energy policy and business.

The two institutions of higher learning would further collaborate in joint research and exchange of material, as well as with students and staff members, while the overall aim is capacity building, particularly in the deployment of renewable energy technology in different setups or environments.

Meanwhile, Namibia's Competition Commission and Germany's Competition Authority have also signed an agreement.

President Geingob assured the German businesses that Namibia is governed by the rule of law.
