Family being a fundamental unit of any society, Vice President Nangolo Mbumba has called on the nation to create an orderly society where children grow up in an environment of peace and harmony, strengthening and instilling in them good moral values of love, kindness, and compassion.
Mbumba said this in a Christmas message to the nation.
In his Christmas message, the Vice President implored all to share love and happiness with the little ones—the country's future developers, defenders, and leaders, he says.
"In the spirit of sharing, we should also ensure that we take care of and share with the elderly and vulnerable members of our society. Our elderly are the pillars of our communities. They have contributed to the economy and the general well-being of our country during their active and youthful years. In fact, they are the enablers of all the good things that we enjoy today in Namibia. Therefore, we should ensure that our elders also share in the joy of Christmas, in line with the dictum of the Namibian House that "no one should feel left out."
He also paid tribute to the veterans of the liberation struggle as well as other workers, including teachers, health professionals, and critical service workers.
"It is because of their sacrifices and unwavering commitment to the just cause of our freedom that today we enjoy peace and stability in our country. As we celebrate the festive season of 2022, we should pay tribute to our workers, who are the engine and backbone of our national economy. I, therefore, take this opportunity to wish all Namibian workers a merry and enjoyable Christmas. We thank them for their unwavering contribution to our economy. They keep our economy going, despite numerous headwinds and challenges."
In the midst of turbulence, the business community has been praised for its resilience and contribution to the country's economic growth both domestically, regionally, and globally.
Farmers of all types were also recognized for their contributions to food security and nutrition, according to the Vice President.
On road safety, Mbumba urged road users to be responsible to avoid unnecessary carnage and cooperate with the law enforcement officers, who, because of their national duties, will celebrate Christmas away from their families.
Parliamentarians, regional and local authority councilors, and traditional, community, and spiritual leaders have all done an excellent job of serving and cementing society together, as well as promoting social cohesion and harmony, according to the Vice President.
