Miss Namibia Cassia Sharpley left last week to represent Namibia at Miss Universe in New Orleans, Louisiana, in the United States.
The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation's Chairperson, Lazarus Jacobs, urged the public to vote for Sharpley to be among the semi-finalists of the Miss Universe pageant.
Sharpley was selected to represent Namibia at the 71st Miss Universe pageant, set to take place on January 14.
Jacobs says beauty pageants are more than just about beauty, as they empower women, boost their confidence, and allow them to give back to communities in various ways, such as through charity work.
He says it is time that Namibians do their part to show support and love by voting for Cassia Sharpley on the Miss Universe website.
He says Sharpley's participation is not only for her alone but for Namibia.
The chairman of nbc's board noted that Sharpley's participation on the international platform will bring positive change and economic benefits for the country and will help her promote the "Beauty for Charity" project on poverty alleviation by attracting investors and keeping Namibia on the map.
The public can vote as many times as they want.
