More than 1,000 learners in the Rundu circuit who did not get placement still have to wait another week for tents that will serve as classrooms to arrive.

The learners who did not get school placement were assured by the Director of Education, Arts, and Culture, Fanuel Kapapero, who says classes will only start on the 18th of this month.

Kapapero said the Directorate is just waiting for the tents to arrive from Windhoek.

The tents will be erected at different schools for teaching and learning, not to be delayed any longer.

The ministry also managed to secure chairs, tables, and other teaching materials.

The learners affected are in grades 8, 9, and 10.

The ministry has already advertised the school construction tender.

"We have always been calling on the ministry to build more schools so that learners must study in classes where there is quality education, but the ministry has said they only learned about the issue at the last minute, so now as a result they have to put them in those tents. We are not happy that any of the learners have to study in tents, and no organization, not even ours, will be happy that learners have to study in tents. However, the fact that there is that issue, we are able to place them, and we are going to push the ministry to ensure that that new school is completed in time."

The ministry has yet to advertise the teaching posts for 15 teachers.

The posts will be advertised for at least 14 days.
