The government is constructing more Vocational Training Centres in Kunene, Kavango West, ||Kharas and Oshikoto regions so that more learners could pursue their studies through TVET.

This was revealed by the Minister of Higher, Technology and Innovation, Itah Kandjii-Murangi during the inauguration of the new board members of the Namibian Training Authority (NTA).

Kandjii-Murangi says TVET is the engine of Namibia's manufacturing sector, enterprises, and industrialization and therefore, urged board members to help unlock this potential.

"There have been about eight VTC's  and recently the government decided that we should see that every region has a technical and vocational training center."

The government is also busy looking at ways how to digitalize TVET to be in line with the 4th and 5th industrial revolutions in its programs.

The new NTA Board will be under the chairmanship of Jerome Mutumba, deputized by Ester Hoveka.

Other members include  Cliff Olivier, Eva Fritz-Thomas, Tangeni Nghiweweleka, Elizabeth Kamutuezu and Edward Kafita.

NTA Chairperson Jerome Mutumba said this is a very important responsibility for NTA, they want to look at how they can transform the minds of citizens to begin to look at TVET as a priority area and not as a second option, they want to change the mindset and that is one of the strategic issues that they want to address.
