The Khomas Regional Council has approved the building and renovation of additional classrooms and kitchens at twelve schools in Windhoek.

The regional officials paid a site visit to projects in Windhoek, where the news was announced.

Schools to benefit include Olof Palme Primary, West Mond High, Moses Garoeb Primary, Green Leaf Primary, and the Mountain High School, while the Hakahana Clinic also stands to benefit.

Intended renovations at Hakahana Clinic will include a doctors' consultative room with equipment, the laying of interlocks and tiles, and the painting of the clinic's soup kitchen.

As part of the project, 14 computers were procured for the Greenwell Matongo Community Library.

The computers are meant to give youth in the area better access to educational resources, assist them in their research, and help them improve their activities at school.

|Khomas Governor Laura McLeod-Katjirua said the extension of WiFi services to Katutura Central Constituency, the construction of toilets and booster pumps for residents in the Windhoek Rural Constituency, and a youth garden are all aimed at improving the livelihoods of Windhoek inhabitants.

"In total, Khomas Region has 137 schools, including private schools, but we took a decision and gave priority where there was a need; that is why, after visiting all 137 schools, which were recommended by constituency councilors, we constructed four classrooms, upgraded clinics like Hakahana, and put up soup kitchens for children as their current place is not conducive for the school feeding program."
