The First Lady of the United States of America, Jill Biden, has arrived in Namibia for a two-day official visit.

Dr. Biden touched down at the Hosea Kutako International Airport this afternoon.

This is Dr. Biden's maiden visit to the land of the brave and her first stop on a five-day Africa tour as part of a push to strengthen America's ties with the continent. 

Biden was met by her Namibian counterpart, Monica Geingos.

Top government officials, including Namibia's ambassador to the U.S., Margreth Mensah-Williams, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, and Kohma State Governor Laura McLeod-Katjirua, formed part of the delegation that received Biden.

After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Dr. Biden was swiftly taken off to one of Namibia's official war memorials, the Heroes Acre, where she laid a wreath in honor of Namibia's fallen heroes and heroines.

First Lady Monica Geingos stated that Biden's tribute was a reminder of the values shared between the two countries.

She further stated that Jill Biden's visit is a testament to the strong bond between the two nations and that she is looking forward to using Biden's visit to deepen existing relations.

Biden also went to the State House for a closed-door meeting.

The primary focus of the trip is education, health, and empowering youth and women.

After Namibia, Dr. Biden's next stop will be in East Africa, where she will visit Kenya.
