The Central Procurement Board of Namibia (CPBN) has decided to cancel the controversial medical supplies tender for the Ministry of Health and social services. CPBN chairperson Amon Ngavetene informed bidders through a letter that "the aggregate total cost exceeds the total cost estimates" by the health ministry.
The tender attracted public uproar in recent weeks, with President Hage Geingob being put on the spot with calls for him to cancel the tender. Dr. Geingob however called on relevant parties in this matter to ensure that the Procurement Act is followed to the letter.
