The Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment Creation has collected about N$2.5 million from labour disputes on behalf of complainants, during the 2021 - 2022 financial year.

Minister Utoni Nujoma revealed this when he addressed his staff.

He says the money was been paid to the complainants.

In his address, Nujoma also spoke about the challenges Namibia faced during the past years.

"We are meeting at a time when Namibia is working hard to build forward better after the devastating period of drought, COVID-19 and now, the negative Socio-Economic impact of volatile international development, particularly in East Europe. We are still plagued with high unemployment that threatens the future of our youth, and hence the future of our country. We are also faced with high levels of inequality and increased Informality in the labour market."

He also touched on the job seeker system and the 15 master trainers to train change agents countrywide.

"With the assistance of the international labour organisation, the minister was able to train 15 master trainers who should train change agents countrywide in an effort to prepare employed and the workforce to eliminate violence and harassment at workplaces."
