Massive floodwaters from southern Angola hit northern Namibia on April 1, following heavy rainfall in the neighbouring country.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has said the government's allocation of funding to sports infrastructure is a strategic investment to enable the industry to contribute to national development.

The Kunene Region has been severely affected by the massive inflow of water following heavy rains over the past few weeks, with residents in both urban and rural areas seriously affected.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has pleaded for patience with pensioners in response to the government not prioritising an increase in their grants for the 2025/2026 financial year.

Currently, the Old-Age Grant is N$1,600, following an increase of N$200 in 2024.

Project HOPE Namibia has begun redirecting former beneficiaries of the project to government ministries for continued support, following its closure.
