President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has announced the composition of government, aimed at maximising the outcome and effectiveness of government.

The move saw the establishment and abolition of some and the making of several alignments in various government offices, ministries and agencies.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has appointed a number of new ministers to key portfolios, while some former senior ministers who are part of the 8th Parliament do not feature in the Cabinet.

The members of the executive were sworn in by Chief Justice Peter Shivute.

New Era Publication Corporation has unveiled Era Select, a segmentation-based electronic newspaper designed to transform digital news consumption.

Minister of Information Communications and Technology, Emma Theofelus, introduced the new Era segmentation and E-paper initiative.

The mining and quarrying sector saw a 1.2 percent decline in real value added in 2024, compared to a 19.3 percent increase in 2023.

As reflected in the 2024 National Accounts publication, this slowdown was mainly due to a 3,7 percent drop in diamond mining, driven by weakened global demand.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has announced a sweeping restructuring of government ministries and agencies aimed at streamlining operations and improving efficiency. 

The new government will consist of 14 ministries and seven deputy ministers.
